It's officially 2019! This year I wanted to make some inspirational quote stickers. These stickers were easy to make with Procreate and a Cricut machine. Procreate is a great app for lettering. Cricut's Print Then Cut feature allows you to 1) set up your stickers for label or sticker paper, 2) print them using your own inkjet printer, and 3) cut them out without disturbing the backing. The end result is a professional looking sticker sheet!
Read on to learn how you can make your own unique, hand lettered stickers to help you stay inspired this year.
What I Used:
- iPad Pro (I used the 12.9 inch)
- Apple Pencil (Recommended)
- Procreate app (Version 4.2.4)
- Cricut Maker and Cricut Design Space
- Printable white Sticker Paper
- Inkjet Printer
Preparing the Stickers in Procreate
Step 1 – Create a new canvas
Open Procreate. Tap the plus sign in the top right corner. Choose a preset size or choose Create Custom Size. Use a size you like. Since the stickers are going to be printed, make sure the DPI is 300. You can use a large canvas because you will size your sticker sheet down later in Cricut Design Space.
Step 2 – Turn on your grid
I find it helpful to create a grid in order to size and space the stickers consistently. To do this, tap the wrench at the top of the screen. Tap Canvas and turn the Drawing Guide on. Tap Edit Drawing Guide.
Under 2D Grid use the Grid Size slider to adjust the grid size to your preference. I used about 140px.
When you're happy with the size of the grid, tap Done.
Step 3 – Choose a brush for your lettering
The brush you choose depends on the type of lettering you want to do. Tap the brush icon at the top of the screen and find a brush you like.
I used a custom calligraphy brush under the Calligraphy category. You can find a preset calligraphy brush in the Calligraphy category. If you don't find a preset brush you like, you can download one online or make one of your own. To learn how to make your own calligraphy brush, click here.
Note: Paragon ntfs 15 5 100 equals. On the side of the screen you can use the top slider to make your brush bigger or smaller. You may need to change this depending on how big you want your stickers to be.
Step 4 – Choose a color for your lettering
Once you've chosen a brush, tap the circle in the upper right hand corner of the screen to access Colors. Choose a color that you want your lettering to be. I chose black.
Step 5 – Use the brush to hand letter your stickers
Write your resolutions, goals, quotes, or anything you want to inspire you. Be sure to leave enough space around each word or phrase to make it into a sticker and leave a margin around the sides of the canvas as well.
You can use different brushes or colors. Get creative! When you're done, you can tap the wrench, click Canvas and turn the Drawing Guide off if you want.
Step 6 – Prepare to create backgrounds for your stickers
Create a new layer
In order to cut out your stickers, you need to give each sticker a background shape. This is the shape that Cricut will cut out.
Tap the layers icon at the top of the screen and turn the Background color off.
Tap the plus sign in the top right corner of the Layers menu to add a new layer.
Tap and hold on this layer until you can move it underneath your sticker layer.
Choose a color for your sticker backgrounds
Tap the color icon to access the Colors menu. I used white. You can do this by tapping the Value button and entering the Hexadecimal for white, #ffffff.
Select an appropriate brush
Tap the brush icon and choose the default Monoline brush located in the Calligraphy brushes.
Step 7 – Create a background shape for each sticker
Working on Layer 2, use your white brush to draw a shape around one sticker. Make sure you complete the shape so that there are no holes. Make sure the shape completely outlines the text and that it's a shape that can be easily cut by the Cricut machine. Xcode macbook air 2018.
Tip:If you want to enlarge your image so you can see it better, just use two fingers to pinch and expand the screen.
When you've outlined the sticker, tap and drag the white color from the right corner of the screen into the shape that you've created to fill it with white.
Create shapes around all of your stickers and fill them with white. Make sure to leave some space between each of the stickers.
Step 8 – Save the image for Cricut
Once your stickers are completed, tap the wrench, Share, PNG, and then Save Image.
This will save the image to your iPad's Photo Library. Now your stickers are ready to be finished in Cricut Design Space!
Preparing the File in Cricut Design Space
I'll be using the desktop version of Cricut Design Space. You could also do this without leaving your iPad with the Cricut Design Space app. The steps are similar to the ones presented here. In order to use the desktop version, you'll need a way to transfer the PNG file onto your computer. I used my USB cable.
Step 1 – Start a new project and import the file
Log in to Cricut Design Space on your computer and click New Project.
Click Upload located on the left side of the screen.
Click Upload Image.
Click Browse, find your PNG sticker file, then click Open.
Step 2 – Prepare and insert the image
Under Select image type, click Complex and then Continue.
In the Select & erase area, you can use the magnifying glass to zoom out and view your whole image. Make sure that your stickers appear on the checkered transparent background. Use the tools in the upper left corner of the screen to clean up the image if you want. When you're done, click Continue.
Apple office apps free. Make sure print image looks okay to be printed and that the shapes without the words look okay to be cut, then click the box above Save as a Print Then Cut image. Enter an Image name then click Save.
Under Recently uploaded images, click on your stickers and then click Insert Images in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 3 – Size the stickers
The image is too big to be print and cut. In order to size it down, at the top of the screen in the Size area make sure the lock is locked. Select the image, then type in the width you want the stickers to be in the W field. Press enter or return on your keyboard. The height will be entered automatically to make your stickers proportional. I input a width of 5 inches and the height automatically became 6.454 inches.
If your stickers are still too large after entering the size, you can reduce the size by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner of the image. Make sure the image is locked in the bottom left corner.
Note:There is a limit to how large your image can be for a Print Then Cut. In addition to overall size, you should consider how large you want the individual stickers to be. The rulers around the canvas and the dimensions shown around the selected image should help you determine sizing.

Step 4 – Make it
When you're done sizing your image, drag it to the upper left corner of the screen and tap the Make It button in the top right corner of the screen.
Make sure your settings are okay and then click Continue.
Printing and Cutting the Stickers

Step 1 – Load the printer
Load your printable white sticker paper into your inkjet printer. Make sure that the image will print on the correct side. I use a Canon Pixma printer and load my sticker paper face down.
Tip: You may want to try printing your stickers out on a sheet of plain printer paper first to make sure the stickers are the size that you want them.
Step 2 – Input the printer settings and print
In Cricut Design Space under Print click Send to Printer.
Choose your printer. Turn off Add Bleed and then press Print.
After your stickers are printed, make sure they look okay. There should be a a black border around your printed stickers which enables the Cricut Maker to cut them out.
Step 3 – Input material settings
In Cricut Design Space under Set material, choose the best material option for your sticker paper.
All of the materials are listed under Browse All Materials including Sticker Paper, Sticky Note, Vinyl, etc. Depending on what sticker paper you have, you may have to play around with these material settings until you get something that cuts your sticker paper correctly. You need the cut to be light enough so that it will cut just the stickers and not the backing of the paper.
Once you've chosen a material, you can adjust the Pressure to More, Default, or Less. I used Silhouette printable white sticker paper. I chose the Vinyl setting and set the pressure to Less.
Step 4 – Cut the stickers
Stick your printed sticker sheet to your Cricut mat. The printed side should be up, and the sheet should be positioned in the upper left corner of the mat. The type of mat you use will depend on your stickers. Position the mat to load into your Cricut machine.
In Cricut Design Space make sure the Load tools and mat Meth crack back patterns. section looks okay.
On your Cricut machine, press the flashing Load/Unload button. When the mat is loaded, press the flashing Go button. Wait for your stickers to cut. When they're done press the Load/Unload button again to unload the mat.

Step 5 – Finish the stickers

Once your stickers are cut, remove the paper from the mat. You can use the stickers as is or you can cut the sheet out with scissors or a paper cutter using the black rectangle as a guide.
