MacBook Pro :: Can The 13' Run 1080p Mkv Files Smoothly

Jul 30, 2010

Basically I want to watch high definition videos on my 42' hdtv so I bought the mini display port to hdmi adapter. When I play the videos with VLC I notice choppiness when things move too fast across the screen. Is this a limitation of the hardware (the integrated GPU?) Anyway I can perhaps smooth it out?

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Play 1080p Videos / Image Becomes Distorted

Aug 6, 2010

I am running video to a 40' RCA 1080P television via a HDMI to DVI cable from my Macbook Pro. The laptop has a GeForce 8600M GT GPU and has the capability to run 1080P. However, when I port a video (been trying with DVD Player) the image becomes pretty distorted. Is this a limitation of my laptops GPU or something else?

MacBook Pro :: Watching 1080p Movies Smoothly With No Dropped Frames?

Aug 11, 2009

Is this normal? When watching a 1080p movie on my mbp, in order for it to play smoothly with no dropped frames etc, I have to close everything except for VLC. I have to close mail, itunes, I mean everything except for VLC. Is this normal? otherwise I will get many dropped frames every 5 min or so.

MacBook Air :: Playing 1080p MKVs Smoothly / GeForce 320M Support Hardware Acceleration?

Feb 16, 2009

I've never owned a Mac before, but have a couple of friends who love theirs. So when the stunning new Air came out, I decided I'd join them after using only Windows PCs for so many years. I am trying to decide between the 128GB base 11.6' Air and the base 13.3' one. I prefer the form factor of the 11.6', and ideally, I'd just go ahead and get it, because portability is high on my wishlist.
However, my decision hinges on whether the 11.6' can play 1080p MKVs so I can output them to my TV when I'm not mobile.I've read elsewhere that the 11.6' with the 1.4GHz CPU struggles in OSX, but I'd be installing Windows 7 as well, my media player of choice being Media Player Classic. The reason for this is that it supports hardware acceleration of movie files with the GPU, so allows the CPU to be relatively unused, or assists a slow CPU in playing high bitrate/resolution movies.
So, after the drawn out intro, I guess my questions are: Does the GeForce 320M in the Air support hardware acceleration (DXVA) in Media Player Classic in Windows? If yes, is it capable of playing 1080p MKVs smoothly (for example, a 24 minute show weighing in at roughly 1-1.5GB)?
I would really, really appreciate it if some kind soul would be willing to try this out to help me make my buying decision. As I say, it would be my first Mac, so I'm really not sure when it comes to this kind of thing. And I do realise that what I'm asking is ridiculously specific, but I thought that if anyone could help me, it would be you guys.

MacBook Pro :: Fast Processor To Watch 1080p Movies?

Jul 9, 2009

I want to buy a new MacBook Pro. I was wondering how much profit I would get out of bumping my processor speed. I do a lot of movie encoding or however you call it. (How much faster would it go with a new processor?) How fast a processor do I need to be able to watch 1080p movies natively on the screen (or what other specs)? And on a 24' external display? I'm wondering because on my current build I am not able to watch a 720p movie without the movie jamming every five seconds.

MacBook Pro :: Videos From YouTube And Vimeo Don't Play Smoothly

Jun 3, 2014

I've just bought a brand new MacBook Pro 15 inch retina, upgraded to 2.7ghz processor.
Video content on YouTube and Vimeo is juddering and skipping worse than it does on my 2009 MacBook Pro. It's not smooth at all.
I've had the computer a couple of weeks and haven't had a chance to install anything on it yet (aside from flash player to play the videos), so it's basically as it came from the factory.

MacBook Pro :: YouTube Does Not Show 1080p Option For Videos

Aug 27, 2014

Yesterday I bought my first Mac (13 inch mid 2014 retina macbook pro). But now I have a question. When I want to watch a video on youtube, the highest quality I can choose is 720p. And I know these videos can be viewed in higher qualities (1080p or higher). Even on my girlfriends macbook pro (13 inch non retina) I can view these videos in 1080p. I took a print screen to show you what I mean.

PowerPC :: Does G4 Handle YouTube Videos Smoothly?

Feb 1, 2009

I currently have a powermac g4 gigabit ethernet model. It has a 400mhz cpu, 1gb RAM, and an ati rage pro video card with 16mb video memory. When I try to watch youtube videos (or any other online videos), it is choppy. I am looking into purchasing a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver. It would have a 1.4 ghz sonnet PPC cpu, 1 GB Ram, and an upgraded video card (I think ati) with 64mb video memory. I can get this quicksilver system for 250CDN.
Do you think that the quicksilver will be able to handle youtube videos better. Do you think it will be a major overall increase in preformance. I want to run flash cs3/cs4 on it. Currently on my gigabit ethernet model, flash cs4 runs pretty slow. In the end, do you think I will notice a overall increase in everything I do (including video streaming)? Please let me know if you think the quicksilver is a good upgrade.

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Use A4Tech Mouse Smoothly - Difficult To Maneuver The Mouse Arrow

Dec 3, 2009

I just bought the latest macbook pro. It is actually my first mac so I'm not really sure if this is supposed to happen. But I tried plugging in my 'ordinary pc' (meant to say that is not a Mac mouse) mouse which is an A4Tech brand. It's working when I move the mouse in huge spaces. It goes smoothly that way. But when I try to move it in small little spaces, it's kind of like not going smoothly. Especially when I'm working on small details like Photoshop, it's kind of difficult to maneuver the mouse arrow. I tried other 'pc' mouse as well but it's just the same. Does this really happen if I'm not using Mac's mouse? How do I fix this?

OS X :: Apple Tv Unable To Play 1080p Movies

Dec 14, 2010

I was wondering if such software exist. I have a mac pro in my home office and would like to also plug a second monitor (HD TV) in the living room. Is there a way for me to see what is showing on the TV? I want to use that instead of streaming to my apple TV in the living room which is unable to play 1080p movies. Of course I don't want to mirror both monitors, I would like to be able to look at my emails in the office while my girlfriend watch a movie.

Applications :: Unable To Burn Videos Via Toast / Burn Files From A Network?

Sep 17, 2010

It is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! Apple logic studio 9 review. I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.

Mac Mini :: Playing 720p MKV Files At 1080p Resolution?

Nov 19, 2010
Mkv

I have a bunch of 720p MKV files. I have my mini connected with HDMI to my 54' Panasonic 1080p. I set the resolution on the mini to 1080 and I play my MKV files.
When I set my resolution on my computer to 720p the movie takes up almost the full screen before i select full screen mode. When I set the computer resolution to 1080p and play the 720p media the movie screen only takes up about 3/4 of the screen until i set to full screen mode.
Do I lose any quality or get extra quality having my mini res at 1080p but playing 720p media?
Is the NVIDIA geforce capable of upscaling 720p to 1080?
